Spay and Stay has considered adoptive families from all over Illinois and surrounding states. Our goal is to make the best match taking into consideration the cat's background and your family's needs. Every cat is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We do our best to match the right cat with the right adoptive home because we want this to be their permanent home.
We appreciate you wanting to bring a cat into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application. If you already have a cat/kitten in mind, put it on your application!
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity. If/Once approved to adopt, the search for your cat begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing cats in our care that you are specifically interested in.
You will be invited by a Spay and Stay volunteer to schedule a meet/greet with the cat you are interested in adopting. During this visit, you can ask all your questions and hear more about the cat/kitten from the foster. Meetings are typically scheduled at our weekly adoption events.
Once you have chosen a cat/kitten to adopt and met them, you are ready for the last step! It is time to schedule the delivery of your new best friend. Upon delivery, you will review and sign the contract, accept the cat's records and complete the adoption. Congratulations!
